Brand identity and interior design at the Ludoquist Boardgame Cafe, Croydon.
As the first cafe of its kind in South London, the Ludoquist presents a unique customer experience combining food, drink and gaming.
The approach to this project was simple: create an accessible and engaging brand to represent the alternative and playful personality of the cafe and its concept.
We explored the idea of simulation and visual representation used in gaming. Most boardgames simulate a reality to some extent. This may be a simulation of a time in history, a place in the world, or a system within society. Through the constructed narratives, representational objects, graphical renders and considered rules, an alternate reality is created. Through experimentation with size and scale, dimensional state, colour and physical shape or form we created a logo and a sequence of brand components.
The interior presents a warm, welcoming and inclusive space focussed on encouraging people to connect with others through gaming.
